Jaipur Mera Shehar (or JMS as it’s popularly called) took birth as a community driven initiative of concerned citizens of Jaipur who would like to see the city evolve as a creative, sustainable, happy, self-sufficient, modern and a sensitive city, at the same time retaining its core strengths and beauty of art and craft, richness in heritage and human enterprise and the underlying ethic of frugality and sustainability.
JMS sees its role as a facilitator, enabler and an ecosystem builder. Many individuals and organisations in the city have proactively started working towards improving the quality of life in the city, towards making it a holistic and a sustainable, yet modern city. However, there are many challenges which may not be possible for each initiative to tackle individually. JMS, hence, tries be a platform that enables such initiatives to come together, grow, learn from each other, support each other, communicate better and raise resources for their growth and development.
With a mandate to develop local community, JMS has been able to successfully introduce new concepts w.r.t developing a community organisation that, despite being open for everyone & despite having no hierarchy, is efficient & transparent in it’s working. The concepts such as sociocracy, Gift spirit etc. have been at the core of our everyday thinking & actions.
1. To always make all the policy and operations decisions on the basis of consent of the community.
2. To maintain equivalence and transparency in its policy decisions & operations.
3. To be inclusive for each & every citizen of the city. For this JMS follows the spirit of Gift Culture where valuables are not traded or sold, but rather given without an explicit agreement for immediate or future rewards.
